Are there best practices for how often to administer a Benchmark?
We recommend at least two, an initial Benchmark at the beginning and a follow-up Benchmark at the end of a school year, to measure growth. However, administering additional Benchmarks in between will give schools and districts more opportunities to identify areas of need/intervention.
How long do we anticipate a typical pre-made Benchmark to take? Can students complete it in multiple sessions.
They should take about 30 minutes each. Students should complete the Benchmark in one session.
Will anyone with Admin Tools be able to create and push out a Benchmark? For example, a department head at an individual school account?
Yes, anyone with access to Admin tools can create and push out a Benchmark.
What happens if a teacher doesn’t assign a Benchmark that’s recommended to them? Will admins see an indication of this somewhere?
Admins can see and track the administration of the Benchmark so they can provide additional reminders to teachers throughout the process.
Can teachers access the Benchmark assignment after the assignment window has closed?
No, teachers can not access the Benchmark after the assignment window has closed.
Will Benchmarks stop teachers from assigning more content before they assign and complete the Benchmark?
No, teachers choose when to give the Benchmark within the Admin assigned window, but can still create and assign other work during the same period.
Do admins need to wait until classes/rosters are set up to design/assign Benchmarks, or can they do it ahead of time over the summer?
No! Admins can design and assign Benchmarks at any time. When teachers roster, they’ll be prompted to assign the Benchmarks created by Admins.
If a teacher creates an account after the Benchmark has been assigned, will they see it in their account?
Yes, they will as long as the Benchmark window is open and the teacher has a class that matches the grade specified in the Benchmark.
