Did you recently get a new student or need to add a student to an assignment? Read below to see how you can add students to new and existing assignments.
How to assign students to new assignments
Once students have joined your class, you will see their names listed when you go to create a new assignment. You can either assign to the entire class by checking the box next to the class name or select individual student names from the class list. You can expand the Choose Students drop-down to view student names.
How to assign students to existing assignments
When a student joins your class late, you’ll receive an email notifying you that they have joined. If your class has any assignments that are past due, you'll see a banner notification reminding you to check on any existing or past-due assignments that the student(s) may need to be added to.
- The assignment you want them to complete is already past due.
- The assignment you want them to complete was not originally assigned to the whole class.
To assign students to an existing assignment, you can follow these steps:
- From your My Assignments Page, select the pencil icon to edit an assignment's settings.
- For writing assignments, select Continue at the bottom of the next page to proceed with assigning new students.
- On the next screen, you'll see that new students who have not yet been assigned will be highlighted. Select the checkbox next to the student's name to assign it to them. If you don’t see your student’s name listed, double-check that you’ve added them to the correct class.
