As you're creating and assigning work to your students, it's important to make sure that all students have access to the assignments you're creating! You can follow the steps below to ensure that all of your students can see the assignments you've assigned.
1. Make sure recently joined students have been added to the assignment.
New students will automatically be added to assignments that are not past due and have been assigned to the entire class. For assignments that are past due or were not originally assigned to everyone, you'll need to manually add the students to those assignments.
You can learn how to add new students to existing assignments in this article!
2. Have students check their NoRedInk accounts for the assignments.
- Make sure your student is signing in to the NoRedInk account they used to join your class.
- If the student is logged into the correct account, have the student check to see if the assignment appears under the Current Assignments or Late Assignments sections.
- If the assignment is not there, you'll want to double-check the assignment's settings.
- Check the student's Past Work page, as the student may have forgotten that they already completed the assignment.
- You can also view the student's Past Work page in your own account by following these instructions.
3. Check your assignment's settings and make adjustments.
If students are reporting being unable to see their assignments, it's important to double-check the assignment's settings! You can access the settings of an assignment by selecting the pencil icon next to the name on the My Assignments page.
In the assignment settings, you should check the following:
- Check that the correct students' names are checked off under the Assign to section. Add a checkmark to any student names that are missed but should have access to the assignment. These students will be highlighted in yellow.
- Check your start date and start time, as well as the due date and due time. You can make adjustments as needed by following the instructions in this article!
- Students will only see assignments that are in progress on their dashboard, except for late assignments that will be under the corresponding section.
- If an assignment is past due but you would still like students to have access to it, make sure the Allow late submissions option is toggled on.
4. Make sure your time zone settings match with your students' time zones.
When you assign an assignment as a teacher, the assignment will be tied to your time zone, as it's set in your NoRedInk account.
- For example, if you are in the Eastern US time zone and you set your assignment to be due at 5 pm EST, the assignment will be due at 2 pm PST for remote students in the Pacific US time zone.
To ensure that there aren't discrepancies between your assignment start/due date times and your students' accounts, we recommend that you and your students use the same time zone.
To set your time zone or to confirm a student's time zone setting, select the silhouette icon at the top of the dashboard and head to the Personal Information section of your Account Settings.
