The variety of activities available on NoRedInk can fill many different needs. Here are a few ideas for how to utilize different assignment types in various scenarios:
- Bell-ringers or skill review: Quick Writes or individual Practice topics are great for helping students brush up on a skill.
- Helping students improve their proficiency: If your students are struggling in a certain area, you can help reinforce their understanding of these skills by creating a Practice comprised of multiple topics. Including a Checkpoint topic allows students to combine skills in a more authentic, challenging setting.
- Building skills in context: A Passage Quiz or skill-based Quick Write prompt allows students to apply their learning within the context of a longer work or in their own writing.
- Formal essay writing: Guided Essays support students with scaffolded tips as they write and allow for multiple rounds of teacher-supported revision. Consider starting the year at the paragraph level with Guided Short Responses!
- Pre-teach with lessons and tutorials: After filtering for content, you can use our lessons and tutorials to pre-teach concepts to students before assigning them practice, as well as model example questions for the class. Learn more here!
