Now that you understand how Unit Diagnostics can help you track student growth throughout the unit, let's learn how to create and assign one!
To create and assign a Unit Diagnostic, you can follow these steps:
- Head to our Assignment Library by selecting Browse & Assign at the top of your dashboard.
- Under Assignment Types, select Assessment.
- Select Unit Diagnostic.
- On the next page, you can browse any of our skill categories or search for a specific topic with the search bar at the top. You can also filter topics by recommended grade level!
- Select the check box next to the topics that you'd like to test your students on.
At the bottom of the page, you'll see the total number of topics you've selected and an estimated time it should take students to complete the assignment.
- Select the arrow button next to Assign as Unit Diagnostic to move to the final page.
- On the final page, you'll be able to select which class you want to receive the assignment, set a start and due date, and create a name for the assignment.
You can assign to the whole class by checking the box next to your class name, or assign to individual students by expanding the drop-down menu and selecting specific names.
You can also adjust the number of questions or scramble the question order. Keep in mind that adjusting the number of questions will impact the estimated time the assignment will take for students to complete.
- Once you’ve finalized the assignment, select Assign.
Once you create an assignment, you will be able to add new students who join your class to existing assignments, but won't be able to unselect students who have already been assigned.
