Using Peer Reviews in your class

When running a Peer Review in your classroom, you can use the teacher dashboard to get an overall picture of your classroom’s progress, and click into individual students’ submissions to get a detailed view of a specific student’s activity.

Results page

The NoRedInk Peer Reviews results page is designed to give you a real-time view of where students are in the Peer Review assignment. With the ability to view both individual students’ work as well as class-level trends, you can tailor your in-class instruction to most effectively help your students succeed. To get here, click into the assignment's results:

TIP: You can also get here by clicking on the assignment name in your Student Data page ("Gradebook").

 

The Progress tab on your Results Page shows how students are progressing along the three steps in Peer Reviews. This tab only shows students who are still working on the assignment (i.e., have not yet submitted revised writing). From this tab, you can:

• Skip students ahead to the next step
• View the number of peer ratings a student has given and received
• View class trends, including average ratings across selected rubric criteria
• View specific comments marked helpful or inappropriate 

The Rating and Grading Criteria table on the Progress tab indicates the rubric criteria you chose for the assignment. If you are a Premium teacher and have assigned a Peer Review with a mastery requirement, you will also see information regarding which students have not yet achieved mastery to rate peers on each criteria.

 

 

 

From the Submissions & Grades tab, you can see all writing that students have submitted, with the most recently submitted version visible.  If a student is still on the Rate Peers or Revise step and has not yet submitted a revision, their original drafts will appear under “Still working.”

 

 

Individual student submissions 

You can view individual student submissions by clicking students’ names, the View button under students’ names on the Progress tab, or the Grade/Comment buttons from the Submissions & Grades tab. The individual student page lets you view details about and interact with the student's submissions.

 

To see specific peer feedback and how students have revised their writing, you can:

• Compare the original draft and final revision
• View the revision goals that the student wrote during the Revise step
• View a summary of the ratings that the student received
• View the comments received by the student, and the comment authors
• View the comments given by the student, and the comment recipients

 

From this page, you can also:

• Provide free-form comments directly to students who have not yet submitted revisions
• Grade students’ submitted revisions (and customize your grading rubric)
• Delete specific comments given or received by the student, hiding them from the comment recipient
• Request an additional revision, which takes students back to the Revise step to edit their writing again
