With Reading Mode, students can engage with sources as they write. Let's learn what features are available to students while working with sources in Quick Writes and Guided writing assignments!
View sources
They can view the sources as they write, or they can view the prompt and source in a full-screen mode.
Side by side view
Full-screen mode
To view a source in full-screen mode, students will select View fullscreen at the top of their assignment. They can return to the side-by-side view at any time by selecting Exit fullscreen at the top-right of the assignment.
Adjust Text Size
Students can change the font size of their sources within their writing assignment! To do so, students can select the Settings option at the top of their assignment and choose the size they'd like for their font.

Annotate and highlight
Students can annotate and highlight text in both side-by-side and full-screen mode. To highlight single words of text they want to annotate, students can double-click and drag their cursor over the text within the source.
- They can also use the tab + spacebar on their keyboard or tap and hold the text on touch-screen devices!
- When highlighting multiple words, students can click and drag across the words on their computer or perform a long press and drag on touch devices.
Students can change the highlighter color, add a note, and even add a reaction sticker. They can also edit and delete annotations, as well as copy directly from the source itself to add to their writing.
Students can even adjust how they view annotations while in side-by-side mode to show or hide the comments by selecting Collapse notes.
