NoRedInk integrates with ClassLink to provide the following features:
- Automatic class creation in NoRedInk
- Regular automatic roster updates that reflect enrollment changes
- Automatic student enrollment in appropriate classes
- Single sign-on (SSO) functionality for students through your district's ClassLink portal
With this integration, teachers and students can enjoy a seamless experience without manual roster management or separate login credentials. Check out the sections below to learn how to roster your classes and students with ClassLink!
If your school or district is interested in integrating NoRedInk and ClassLink, this article will inform you of what integration features would be available!
💡 You can find a list of definitions for each integration feature in this article!
NoRedInk Premium Is Required
To begin integrating NoRedInk with ClassLink, an active Premium license is required. You can learn more about Premium here!
Sign up or log in to NoRedInk
It's recommended that teachers and students sign up and log into NoRedInk directly through ClassLink. This is to ensure that users are connecting the correct accounts and help avoid rostering issues. That being said, users can also sign up or log in through NoRedInk and connect their accounts through NoRedInk's Account Settings.
Roster Creation
Roster creation can begin when the teacher manually syncs ClassLink with NoRedInk. Once the teacher begins rostering, students can sign up or log into NoRedInk through ClassLink to automatically join their teacher's class!
Roster Management
Roster updates occur once every 24 hours and are based on the data synced with ClassLink by the district and provided to NoRedInk. That being said, teachers can manually refresh their NoRedInk and ClassLink sync on their Manage Classes page.
Gradebook Sync
Gradebooking syncing is not a feature available through ClassLink.
Demographic Data Syncing
Demographic data syncing is shared when integrating with Classlink if enabled by the Classlink admin. The additional demographic fields outlined in the table below should be appended at the end of the demographics.csv file you send to Classlink. If you need to use different fields, please contact NoRedInk Support (support@noredink.com). Our Classlink implementation is based on the OneRoster 1.1 specification. If you are unsure how to add this data in Classlink or send the data to NoRedInk, we recommend reaching out to Classlink Support (may require Classlink login credentials to access) for further assistance.
Note: When creating the metadata fields, the supported keys and values we are expecting are case sensitive. Any data types that have quotations around them only need to be sent in the format of either true or false.
| Data Field | Supported Keys | Data Type |
| FRL | frl, frl_status, frl-status | String (255 Character Max) |
| IEP | iep, iep_status, iep-status, sped, CL.sped | Booelan - Accepted values "true" or "false" |
| ELL | ell, ell_status, ell-status, emergentBilingual, CL.lep | Boolean - Accepted values "true" or "false" |
Student Grade Level Syncing
Class and student grade levels are shared between ClassLink and NoRedInk. This allows for this information to be stored in the class to easily allow teachers to assign Benchmarks in NoRedInk.
Co-Teacher Support
ClassLink co-teachers are automatically added to the specific class they assist and can access the class once they connect and begin syncing ClassLink with NoRedInk.
