NoRedInks Peer Reviews matches students anonymously and guides them to share structured and actionable feedback. Students will work through three steps in the writing process: Write, Rate Peers, and Revise.
Peer Review is great for feedback skills and targeted revision of specific essay components.
To assign a Peer Review, follow these steps:
- Head to our Assignment Library by selecting "Browse & Assign." Select the Writing activities.
- On the next screen, press "View more writing activities" and then choose "Create your own" for Peer Review.
- Next, add a prompt and select the essay component you want to assign. When you're finished, press "Continue."
- The grading rubric will adjust based on the essay component you select, and you'll be able to specify the criteria you'd like students to focus on when rating their peers.
- NoRedInk Premium users can choose to require mastery in the Practice topics associated with each criteria, enabling students to provide more robust and thoughtful feedback. Learn more here.
- Finally, you'll choose which classes and students you want to assign to the Peer Review in order to create the assignment. You won't need to set a start date and due date right away.
The Peer Review assignment begins when you press the "Start" button that appears next to the assignment on your "My Assignments" page.
On the next screen, you'll set your due date and time for the assignment and specify how many peers each student will rate (default is 2). Select "Start peer review" to make the assignment open for students to start working on.
Once you create an assignment, you will be able to add new students that join your class to existing assignments but won't be able to unselect students that have already been assigned.
