There are a few ways you can create an assignment in NoRedInk, depending on the type of activity you'd like to assign! No matter which type of assignment you're creating, you'll first want to head to our Curriculum Library.
💡To get started quickly with a pre-made assignment, you can also check out our Featured tab in the Curriculum Library by clicking here!
Writing & Revising
To create a Writing & Revising type activity such as Quick Writes, Guided Drafts, Self Review, or Peer Review, first choose the "Writing" tab in the Curriculum Library.
Next, locate the activity type you'd like to create, then click "Assign" to begin customizing your assignment.
After customizing your assignment with properties such as a prompt, essay component, or rubric items, you can finish creating your assignment by selecting a due date, name, and choosing which classes you'd like to assign the work.
Practice & Assessment
You can assign Practice & Assessment activities for both Writing topics and Grammar & Conventions topics. For Writing topics, first choose the Writing tab and choose a genre, then click "Practice & Assessment." For Grammar & Conventions skills, select the "Grammar & Conventions" tab and begin browsing by topic.
Note: At the moment, NoRedInk does not support combining Writing and Grammar topics in the same assignment.
You can also utilize the search bar in the top right hand corner to look for specific topics you'd like to cover.
Unit Diagnostics, Practice, and Quizzes
After browsing the available topics in our Curriculum Library, you can choose which ones you'd like to include by clicking the checkbox next to the topic name. After selecting all topics you'd like to assign, click the activity type you'd like to create from the blue assignment panel below.
From the assignment properties page, you can finish customizing options such as which classes you'd like to assign work, when the assignment begins and ends, and how many questions appear.
To assign a Planning Diagnostic, first navigate to the "Grammar & Conventions" tab, then click "Assign" next to Planning Diagnostic.
Next, select the Pathways you'd like to include on your Planning Diagnostic, as well as the number of questions.
Finally, choose which classes to assign the Planning Diagnostic to, as well as when the assignment starts and ends.
You can assign our multi-paragraph, passage-based Quizzes two different ways! When viewing a passage Quiz in the Curriculum Library, click the calendar icon to the right to assign it to your classes.
You can also filter directly for Passage Quizzes by navigating to the Grammar & Conventions tab, then clicking "Assign" next to to "Passage Quiz". This will allow you to browse all Passage Quizzes separately from the rest of our topics.
Comparative Growth Quizzes can be assigned directly from a previous Unit Diagnostic or Quiz assignment! First, navigate to your Assignments page and locate the assignment for which you'd like to compare to a Growth Quiz. For a Unit Diagnostic, select "Continue Unit" and then choose Growth Quiz.
To create a Growth Quiz to compare to an independent Quiz, you can directly choose "Create Growth Quiz" next to the original assignment.
