With Text-to-Speech enabled, directions can be read aloud in most Practice topics, in prompts and passages for both Quick Writes and Guided Drafts, and in student writing while working on a Guided Draft. Currently, just over 55% of NoRedInk topics have this feature available, and we are working on adding more. Keep reading for step-by-step instructions for how to enable Text-to-Speech.
Instructions
Note: When a teacher chooses to enable this feature, it does not automatically make it available for all students. Each student must also enable the Text-to-Speech feature using the instructions below.
1. In your account, click on your name in the top right corner.
2. Click "Settings."
3. Under "Accessibility", select "Enable Text-to-Speech."

4. Click "Save Settings."
Ask each student who should have this feature enabled to go to their own "Settings" page and complete steps 1-4 above.
Once Text-to-Speech is enabled, you and your students will see a small "play" button next to the directions and the topic’s content.
